Further Information

Teachers with provisional or confirmed bookings are welcome to make FREE pre-visits in order to become familiar with all that we have to offer. Contact us to arrange your visit. To aid your planning, we offer a downloadable general site Risk Assessment.

While there is no dedicated lunchroom, we will make every effort to provide schools with an indoor space to eat lunch during bad weather. During dry weather, there is seating in the Bailey courtyard and the play area for picnic lunches.

All self-guided groups must sign in at the admissions desk. The group leader is responsible for the behaviour and well being of your group at all times.

For large self-programming groups, staff and students can be divided into small groups to explore the house and grounds. Accompanying adults should be given guidelines of their supervisory role and the importance of staying with the pupils.

Specialist artists, actors, teachers and museum educators who are CRB checked lead all our taught sessions. We have a number of new taught sessions available and are continuing to add new items to our programme each year. We particularly value your feedback and welcome your suggestions as to what you would like to see on offer here for schools in future.

Taught school visits and activities normally commence from 10.00am or after lunch, although other start times can be accommodated.

There are restrictions on group sizes for all taught sessions; however, we welcome visits from larger groups and can suggest a number of alternative ways of accommodating your group. All our sessions can be tailored to meet the needs of learning disabled groups; please contact us beforehand to discuss any special requirements.
