After a tremendous effort by staff and volunteers, the galleries and the main house at Bodelwyddan Castle are now open to the public. It is business as usual - but perhaps not! A brand new selection of landscapes and portraits can now be found on the walls of every room. There is a distinctly Welsh theme to the selection - the people and places that have been recorded in our fine art over the centuries.
The First World War Room shows items from the castle's own collection from 1914-18 as well as collections from the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. Items on show include a sketch by David Jones, drafts of Robert Graves' poetry, and letters from the Front written by a nephew of the 4th Baronet.
We now have our '1970s Room' showing some unique examples of late 60s and 70s art from our wonderful art collection. There are many items in the castle's art collection not yet on display and we will work hard over the summer to refurbish 3 rooms earmarked for this amazing collection.
